Yumi Zouma began as a long-distance home-recording project in 2013. The release of ‘EP I’ in 2014 and ‘EP II’ in 2015 saw the band embraced by blogs, and asked to tour with artists such as Lorde before the group had held a band practice together. In 2016, the band released their debut full-length album, 'Yoncalla', after being invited by Philippe Zdar to work at his Motorbass studio in Paris.
