About

One of the early stars of the cumbia movement in Mexico, Rigo Tovar, with his band <a href="spotify:artist:22l90jdK9JPlpGPXupCaDZ">Costa Azul</a>, had several hits, including "Mi Matamoros Querido" and "Lamento de Amor." He later pursued a solo career and broke the attendance record at Rio Santa Catarina in Monterrey when a crowd of more than 40,000 people attended one of his concerts. During the '80s, Tovar went on hiatus due to illness but re-emerged in 1989 with a pair of albums for the BMG/U
