2005年結成。ハードコア・パンク・バンドBRAHMANの全メンバー、TOSHI-LOW(Vo, Bouzouki, A.Gt)、KOHKI(A.Gt)、MAKOTO(Cb)、RONZI(Dr)に、ヴァイオリニストでフロントマンも務めるMARTIN(Vo, Violin, A.Gt)とパーカッショニストKAKUEI(Perc)から成る、6人組アコースティック・バンド。 　欧米をはじめとしたトラッドやルーツ・ミュージックを巧みに織り込んだ有機的な音楽性に、繊細さとダイナミズムとを併せ持ったパフォーマンスで多くのオーディエンスを魅了。国内最大級のフェスをはじめ海外でもライブを重ねるほか、2010年からは、全アーティストがアコースティック編成のみで出演するキャンプフェス「New Acoustic Camp」のオーガナイザーを務めている。

2019年春より、OVERGROUND ACOUSTIC UNDERGROUND から「OAU」に名称変更。同年に、Twitterの世界トレンド1位になるなど大きな話題となったドラマ「きのう何食べた？
