結成23周年ビジュアル系バンド。2003年、シングル「-Believe-」でメジャーデビュー、2006年に発売されたシングル「the WORLD/アルミナ」がアニメ「DEATH NOTE」のテーマソングに起用、オリコン週間チャート初登場5位、2007年には初の日本武道館公演を実施。 2016年バンド活動を一時休止、 2020年 活動再開、2月11日横浜アリーナにて「NIGHTMARE 20th Anniversary SPECIAL LIVE ”GIANIZM 〜再悪〜”」を開催。 10月シングル「ink」オリコン8位。12月ツアーファイナルを中野サンプラザで行う。2021年「cry for the moon」オリコン3位（3/15付）獲得。リリースツアー、バースデイライブの実施。11 月『デュエル・マスターズ キング!』OP 「Sinners」をリリース。ツアーファイナルを LINE CUBE SHIBUYA にて行う。2022年3月には7年ぶりのフルアルバム「NOX:LUX」リリース、ツアーを実施。11月シングル「With」をリリース＜ア
